January data reveals Shein’s total visits reached 5.13 million, a 5.33% year-over-year increase.During this month, Shein’s traffic was second only to Australian retailer Myer, while Shopify’s Shop app ranked third.Notably, the Shop app demonstrated strong performance with a 46.3% traffic surge compared to January 2024.
Meanwhile, Sydney-based online fashion and sports retailer The Iconic slipped to fourth place.The Iconic experienced a 1.46% year-on-year traffic decrease in January, falling to 3.94 million visits – a significant 34.03% drop from its December 2024 traffic. This shift resulted in The Iconic losing the second position it held in December.Luxury department store David Jones followed in fifth place, recording 2.91 million visits in January, a 1.76% year-on-year increase.
Looking at overall shopping website trends in 2024, Australian consumers most frequently shopped on sites like Amazon, eBay, Kmart, Temu, and Big W. Amazon firmly maintained its lead with a 53% market share, followed by eBay at 34%. Everyday essentials brand Kmart ranked third with a 29% share. Temu and Big W secured the fourth and fifth positions, with market shares of 28% and 26% respectively.
